Changes that can be seen on a mammogram

A mammogram can sometimes show changes in your breast that aren’t cancer. Some of these changes are common and don’t need treatment, while others may need more tests to make sure they’re harmless.

If you’re called back after a mammogram, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have breast cancer. Your healthcare team will explain what was found and whether you need any further tests.

Breast density
Duct ectasia
Radial scar (complex sclerosing lesion)
Sclerosing adenosis
Intraductal papilloma (papillary neoplasm)
Benign breast calcifications
