Hormone therapy for breast cancer: what you need to know

When active treatment ends, many people expect to feel like they’re done with the hardest part. But if you’ve been prescribed hormone therapy (also called endocrine therapy), your treatment hasn’t finished. For most people it lasts five to 10 years, depending on the features of your cancer.

Hormone therapy is a safe, effective and important treatment for breast cancer. But, for some, it can be challenging. Hot flushes, aching joints, broken sleep, low mood and changes to your body and sex life can wear you down. This happens just as the appointments thin out and everyone around you assumes you’re “done”. It’s no wonder some people feel unsupported.

This webinar is an honest, inclusive kōrero for anyone taking hormone therapy, whether you’ve just started or you’re years in. We’ll talk about why staying on it for the recommended time matters, because it lowers your risk of breast cancer coming back. We’ll share practical ways to manage common side effects and the support available to you.
