If you have been told you're at risk of lymphoedema following breast cancer surgery or treatment, these bracelets can be worn on the affected arm to alert hospital or laboratory staff of your increased risk. Contact us if you would like us to send you a bracelet.
Lymphoedema therapists support people living with lymphoedema (caused by cancer or not) and support its prevention. Lymphoedema services are offered in all District Health Boards (except the Wellington region). Referral processes vary. Addresses for referral to a DHB lymphoedema therapists are on the website. Lymphoedema therapists are also available in private practice, where the cost of lymphatic drainage massage is met by the patient/client or sometimes by health insurance (including ACC).
BCFNZ funds lymphoedema therapy to the value of $180 with a lymphoedema therapist. Therapy may include education, assessment and treatment.
