Latest Breast Cancer Research

Research is one of the keys to better breast cancer treatments and survival.

Research is one of the keys to better breast cancer treatments and survival. This webinar will get you up to speed with the latest breast cancer research. It will cover the results of some recent overseas trials, as well as some new studies, that improve treatment side effects.

Meet your panel:

Dr Anna Bashford, a medical oncologist who specialises in the treatment of breast cancer will talk about hot-off-the-press drug research including Palbociclib, recently approved for use in New Zealand.

Nurse Vivienne Maidens, one of the Foundation’s own breast care nurses, will discuss access to these new treatments here in New Zealand. She’ll also talk about a new pilot of scalp cooling to reduce hair loss from chemotherapy, right here in NZ.

Nurse Sarah Munro is another of our wonderful breast care nurses. She’ll talk about research that shows that monitoring side-effects not only improves quality of life – it can extend your life, too.
