What is the problem and who is affected?

FOXA1 gene, and its mutations, have been suggested to determine whether or not a breast cancer patient will respond to hormone therapy.

What is this research hoping to achieve?

Dr Muthukaruppa's research will explore the role of FOXA1 gene variant in breast cancer. This information will allow doctors to better personalise cancer treatment so that each patient will receive the medicine that will work best for them.
