Cooking group dishes up the fun

Visit Pink Ribbon Breakfast

The Coatesville cooking group have held Pink Ribbon Breakfasts since 2013, an occasion that last year attracted 250 participants.

At that time, they held the event as they felt it was a worthy cause. However, it was made all the more poignant and meaningful when one of the founding members, Kelly, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. (She has recovered well with the support of friends & family and is now focussed on helping to host the group’s sixth Pink Ribbon Breakfast.)

The event has grown since it began: the group’s first High Tea had 65 guests, and last year’s attracted 250. In fact, Coatesville Cooking Group was the top fundraiser for both 2016 and 2017. So what’s their secret?

Kelly says, “We’ve had excellent feedback and lots of repeat guests and they bring friends - hence the 250 total, I think!

“The best thing is the sense of satisfaction at the end of the event – successfully raising funds for an awesome cause. Coatesville Cooking Group cover any and all costs so 100% funds raised goes to BCFNZ. It’s a huge team effort and we all thoroughly enjoy it!

Kelly’s Top Tip:
Don’t hesitate, just give it a go – we started small and it’s just grown from there! Don’t be afraid to ask for help and donations. So many people have been affected by breast cancer – we have been blown away by the generosity of our supporters.
